Memorial Day Reflections

It doesn’t feel like a coincidence that Memorial Day would fall during Mercury Retrograde. Also I don’t believe in coincidences. I think everything is a synchronicity or sign meant to see, feel, or act in deeper more aligned ways. But it’s our perception that matters.

Mercury Rx is about reflection (and the resurrection of exes) as well as re-assessment, rest, review. On this day as we give thanks, remember, and reflect all the men and women that have fought for our country, let’s also take a second to remember and give thanks for that person inside of you that has fought for herself.

Life is HAAAARD sometimes. Between juggling kids (if you have them), working a job (if you got it), doing the self awareness work (if you have it in you), and then having to breathe on top of it. That’s a lot! But you’re doing it. You’re breathing, likely as you read this. And sometimes (most times) that’s enough to be proud of.

Sometimes I get caught in this loop of ‘what am I doing wrong?’ ‘How can I do this better?’ And those are great questions to ask for some clarity. But this morning my boyfriend reminded me that a better question to ask is “What am I doing right?”

So if you’re here struggling with the day-to-day, doubting whether your Macarena hands are going the correct way, or whether you’ll ever have it all figured out… ask yourself, “What am I currently doing right?”

Here’s what I’m currently doing “right” (and “right” is in quotations because it only needs to be right/correct for me. No one else)

  • The cotton eyed joe
  • Coffee making is a skill of mine
  • Staring at the sun – as an effort to temporarily blind myself but also soak in the Vitamin D
  • I inspire, motivate, and allow people to be seen, heard, and understood.
  • I blew up and filled up a sprinkler for the kids – almost fully and it almost stood up on its own but I am deciding that counts. And so it is.
  • I truly give my all and care about most (ok, some) people even on my darkest days

Now I want to hear from you. Anonymously or not, I would love to share some reflections and “what I’m doing right” lists on my IG to get people inspired to view themselves in a different light.

Whatcha got?
