Turkey Chili
I made this recipe for Super Bowl Sunday! I also made a vegetarian (and vegan) option. This version is not spicy (for the kids too). I love chili because you can add a TON of veggies to it and everyone will still love it. This is a perfect meal to make when you are transitioning from SAD (Standard American Diet) to a healthier one.
Disclaimer: I advocate a plant based diet and do not eat meat myself. However, everybody is different and I am a firm believer that one should be based on their own individual needs (to be discussed in a future blog). If you do eat meat, try to opt for organic.

  • Organic ground white turkey meat (omit if making vegetarian option)
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 1-2 TBS (minced garlic)
  • 3 carrots (chopped)
  • 2 sweet peppers (chopped)
  • 1 can each kidney, cannelli, and black beans, drained and rinsed (yes, I used canned beans here. It is best to use dried beans, soaking them overnight and then cooking. However, I don’t have time for this.)
  • 28oz can of crushed tomatoes
  • 2 TBS chili powder
  • 1 TBS cumin
  • Salt & pepper to taste

  1. Sauté onion in olive oil over medium heat. Once translucent, add minced garlic and sauté a bit longer.
  2. If using meat, add your ground meat and cook until browned.
  3. Add your tomatoes, chopped veggies, beans, and seasonings.
  4. Let that baby simmer until the veggies are nice and soft and all the flavors have married. Taste and adjust seasonings.
