Split Pea Soup & Garlic Rosemary Bread
My husband and kids love soup (I am indifferent about it). Regardless, I have been meaning to make a split pea soup that isn't too think or creamy. So here it is (it was a huge success by the way). I couldn't fins split peas so I got this packaged mix from Whole Foods. I soaked it in the cold water with a strip of kombu (for about 36 hours-but you can do less) which helps your body better digest the mixture (NO FARTS!!!) We loved it, it was the perfect consistency (even for the baby), and no one got stuck in a dutch oven.

  • About 10 cups of water/broth  (to fill a crockpot. I used water because I use bouillon cubes instead of broth)
  • Chopped carrots
  • Chopped celery
  • 1 cup dry split pea mix soaked. Drained and rinsed after soaking
  • Additional seasonings to taste


  1. Boil the water/broth (or heat it in the crockpot)
  2. Add your veggies
  3. Add the split pea mix
  4. Leave on high for 5 hours
  5. Enjoy!

The garlic rosemary bread was easy peasy. I took a few slices of Ezekiel bread (it's sprouted so it's great for you!). I added olive oil, rosemary, minces garlic, and salt. I put the slices in the oven on 450 and within 10 minutes it was done! Delish!
