Easy tips to boost immunity

Whether you like it or not, old man winter will be blowing down your door very soon. He comes in a ll pompous with his snow, wind, and diseases.Those pesky winter colds are enough to put you out of work (and late night dinners) for a week if you are not prepared.

So here are a few tips I have put together to make sure you are not home missing all the holiday shopping deals this winter (I would actually pay good money to stay home during this mess).

1. Eliminate sugar! For God's sake get this crack out of your diet once and for all. We know sugar can lead to diabetes. Well it also leads to inflammation. It can actually weaken your immune system and your gut lining (70% of your immunity lies in your gut) so ditch this shit if you want to stay healthy. This goes for kids too.

2. Reduce dairy. Dairy = mucus. Do you want to drip mucus all over your hot date while ice skating in Central Park? No. I didn't think so. Reduce it.

3. Add a probiotic. In tip #1 I told you how 70% of your immunity resides in your gut. So it's time to make sure your gut is up to par. Improve digestion and gut imbalances with a probiotic supplement or fermented veggies such as sauerkraut or kimchi. All have good bacteria to restore gut health.

4. Vitamin C . Studies have found thatvitamin C has been shown to reduce signs of a cold when taken very early on (or in prevention mode). Take 1000mg and also get some C from food sources. A great way to do this is to start your day with a warm glass of water with the juice of a lemon and 1 tsp apple cider vinegar.

5. Exercise . Get off autopilot and off the treadmill. High intensity internal training has been found to be much more effective than running like a fucking rat on the treadmill. I always recommend BodyRock.

6. Stress less. This is the most important tip! Stress suppresses your immune system especially when it is chronic. If you're body is constantly in fight or flight mode, everything (including your immune system) will suffer. Try meditation, yoga, deep breathing, and chill the fuck out.
