All Natural Beauty Tips and Tricks

As women (and men) we are always trying the next big thing to get radiant skin, shiny hair, white teeth, etc. Many people spend hundreds of dollars to get what they feel they need to look beautiful. I am going to give you a few easy, cheap, and all-natural ways to look and feel great. Here are some really interesting beauty tips that I think you will enjoy!

1. For moisturized, nourished skin

Virgin, organic coconut oil is so awesome that we are going to use it here more than once (which means less money for you!). Coconut oil is rich in fats and Vitamin E (amazing moisturizer). It's also high in omegas (3 & 6) which is good for brain, aging, and can aid in weight loss. On a side note, even those who are trying to lose weight should consume high quality, natural fats such as coconut oil, avocados, nuts, and seeds. After your shower, slather this intense moisturizer all over your body. Yes, it's going to be a little greasy but your skin will be oh-so-smooth.  Here is my secret tip, instead of washing your hands afterwards, rub the remaining on the tips of your hair (or all over if your hair is dry). As it is oil, less is definitely more here. I use coconut oil as a moisturizer, eye makeup remover, de-frizzer, cooking, and oil pulling (see below). This stuff is insanely versatile.

2. Oil Pulling for teeth whitening and detoxifying the mouth

Oil pulling is an old Ayurvedic tradition to cleanse the mouth. Side note: Ayurvedia is a natural/holistic healing system stemming from India. I will dedicate a future post to Ayurvedic traditions.  Back to oil pulling, it is used similarly to mouthwash where you just pull the oil (1/2 to 1 tablespoon liquid oil) around in your mouth for as long as you can (no longer than 20 minutes).  Again, use any unrefined, organic oil if possible. Do not gargle or swallow. Just let the oil soak up the germs and toxins, then spit into the toilet (may clog your sink drains). 3. Avocado face mask for smooth skin

Avocados are high in healthy fats (which automatically make them an excellent moisturizer) but they have also been known to reduce wrinkles due to their high Vitamin A, D, and E content. Avocado oil is probably already in your moisturizer or hair conditioner as it is widely used. For the sake of money and resources we are going to use the real deal here. I suggest you eat it AND put it on your face! Next time you have an avocado lying around try taking half of it and mashing it with warm milk or oatmeal. 4. Lemon for acne

Lemons for acne? What?! The lemon's alkaline and acidic properties help to kill bacteria and soothe the skin at the same time. Instead of reaching for Proactive, which is high in toxic chemicals, reach for a lemon instead. Before bed, apply some lemon juice to the affected area and then rinse off in the morning. 5. Honey for your hair

I mentioned earlier that you can use coconut oil on your hair so I am going to give you that recipe and also one with honey. Here is the recipe for a honey hair mask that is sure to leave your locks shiny and soft. StyleCraze suggests 3 tablespoons olive oil and 2 tablespoons honey. Heat that concoction then add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Apply and rinse after 30 minutes. You can create something very similar using coconut oil. 6. Soft lipsBreak out of the honey one more time! I do this whenever my lips feel dry and flaky. Just mix a little honey, lemon juice, and sugar in a bowl. Exfoliate your lips for a few minutes then rinse. Now go ahead and kiss your honey (pun intended)!

7. Ease cracked feet

Yup, bananas! Here is the process: exfoliate with a loofah, soften, and moisturize! Mash your banana with 2 tablespoons oil and rub onto cracked feet. Leave on for 15 minutes then rinse. After your rinse apply lotion. Interesting right? Worth a try for sure!
